#WengerOut spreads to UK General Election 2017, as football fan spoils ballot paper for ‘banter’ purposes
The first person who used a ‘WengerOut’ hashtag on Twitter had no idea what they were starting.
That mystery Arsenal fan, one of many Gooners who believed their team would be better off without Arsene Wenger, presumably simply added #WengerOut to a tweet in order to convey their desire for a managerial changes at the Emirates.
Little did they know they were creating a monster.
A few years later (Twitter’s first recorded use of #WengerOut came in April 2010, apparently), #WengerOut is EVERYWHERE. Using the term has become the favourite activity of banter-loving online football fans.
This despite the fact that Arsene Wenger has just a new signed a new contract which means #WengerIn has clearly win the Arsenal war.

Most of the time, the #WengerOut ‘LEDGE BANTZ’ has seen people holding up anti-Wenger banners in unusual places. A little daft, but largely harmless and occasionally quite amusing.
However, one banter-tastic Twitter user has now gone a step too far, with this abomination:
